I run monthly Women's Circles and Full Moon Circles As well as being a yoga teacher and space holder I have worked as a nurse, CBT therapist and university lecturer. Yoga
I have been practising yoga for as long as I can remember. It's a constant practice for me: not always every day, but every time I do practise I'm glad I did! I had been attending yoga classes and workshops for many years before I decided to train to be a teacher. But I will always remain a student; there is so much to know and learn about yoga! I completed my yoga teacher training in 2013 with Steve Avian and have continued to add to my knowledge (see my training). I currently run classes in Sheffield S10. For more details, please visit the “My Yoga” page. Registered Nurse
I completed my nurse training in Sheffield in 1989. For most of my career I worked in the community with people with long-term health conditions (LTCs). Although LTCs are incurable, I always saw my job as one of helping my patients live the best life they could within the constraints of their illness. This is a principle I use for myself and in all the work I do. We all have limitations or constraints. The work I do – whether it’s in a women's circle or a yoga class – is to help people find their way around their "limitations" so they can live their best lives. |
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) I have worked as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner., delivering one-to-one cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) for people with depression and anxiety. I also worked as an Associate Lecturer in the Psychology department at the University of Sheffield for eight years. I jointly wrote and taught a short course for CBT therapists so they could adapt their work to support people with long-term health conditions. Women's Circles The first time I sat in circle with other women I felt at home – a deep sense of belonging, I could be fully myself. I felt listened to without judgement, and many times I would come away with my own solutions to my problems. Women's circles are an important part of my life now: the sisterhood, the nourishment, the space – all of these elements help me feel grounded, acknowledging that we all have challenges and knowing that we're never alone. I genuinely love holding these spaces – and it's so wonderful to see the benefits that women get every time they attend. And I love how they help me to connect to the seasons: every circle has one of my own "nature mandalas". More info here. Moon Circles
Following the cycles of the moon helps me to connect with the cycles of nature and my inner world. We live in society driven by unnatural demands on our time, I love that the moon waxes and wanes regardless! I only have to look up to the sky to see her light shining down. Each cycle is an opportunity to have gratitude for where I am in life and think about what is next, but without urgency and pressure. I hold online gatherings close to the full moon, come and join me here |
DJ
I never imagined I'd become a DJ. But in 2019 me, my husband and two friends decided we'd put a club night on, one that would start early and finish early. Why? Because we loved dancing and partying, but increasingly felt like the oldest people in the room, and didn't have the energy to keep going to the early hours of the morning. La Luna Social Club was born! Clearly we weren't the only people who felt like this, because it has continued to grow. Years later we're still going strong and I'm still getting on the decks and playing vinyl. It's a fun, joyous night, bringing people together. I love yoga but I also love dancing!

Good Girl or Wild Woman: the book
I've been married, divorced and remarried. I'm mum to two grown women, and step-mum to two burgeoning men. I have had breast cancer. I love a festival, and "Busy" should be my second name. I've often wondered: Am I doing this right? Is there a different way? Why am I so tired? These questions took me down some interesting rabbit holes and came up during many hours of therapy. Very soon the answers to these questions will form my first book.
What eventually became clear to me was: I was always trying to be good. I had completely embodied what I call "The Good Girl archetype". But it certainly wasn't my fault. The Good Girl is who we are conditioned to be. But there is someone in all of us who doesn't feel she needs to live by the rules and always live in service of other people: the Wild Woman! She was already there before society told us who we are supposed to be. I've found my Wild Woman. And my forthcoming book will show you how to find yours.
