Welcome to my website. I'm Sarah and I teach Yoga in Sheffield, online and at festivals. I run monthly Women's Circles and Full Moon Gatherings. As well as being a yoga teacher and space holder I have worked as a Nurse, CBT therapist and University Lecturer. My current work now is a natural continuation of my previous career; its all about bringing people together, sharing the things I love that have helped me, and bringing joy into the world to help you live your best life!

I am lucky to have enjoyed a variety of roles in my life, each one influencing, and complimenting the other.

Registered Nurse
I completed my nurse training in Sheffield in 1989. For most of my career I worked in the community with people with long-term health conditions (LTCs). Although LTCs are incurable, I always saw my job as one of helping my patients live the best life they could within the constraints of their illness. This is a principle I use for myself and in all the work I do. We all have limitations or constraints. The work I do – whether it’s in a women's circle or a yoga class – is to help people find their way around their "limitations" so they can live their best lives.

Cognitive Behaviour Therapist
Alongside my nursing I worked as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, delivering one-to-one cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) for people with depression and anxiety. I also worked as an Associate Lecturer in the Psychology department at the University of Sheffield for eight years. I jointly wrote and taught a short course for CBT therapists so they could adapt their work to support people with long-term health conditions. I continue to weave my knowledge of how our minds work into all my offerings.
Yoga Teacher
I have practised yoga most of my life. I have a childhood memory of watching yoga on TV and sitting in the lotus position! I started attending yoga classes when I came to Sheffield as a student in the late ’80s and never looked back. I have continued to practise and explore the many facets of yoga for almost 40 years now, and I am so grateful to have yoga as a regular practice to support me through life..

Women's Circle Facilitator
The first time I sat in circle with other women I felt at home – a deep sense of belonging. I could be fully myself. I felt listened to without judgement, and many times I would come away with my own solutions to my problems. Women's circles are an important part of my life now: the sisterhood, the nourishment, the space – all of these elements help me feel grounded, acknowledging that we all have challenges and knowing that we're never alone. I genuinely love holding these spaces – and it's so wonderful to see the benefits that women get every time they attend.
DJ
I love yoga and I also love dancing. But I never imagined I'd become a DJ! However, since 2019 (along with my husband) I’ve been running a club night – one that starts early and finishes early: La Luna Social Club. We both love dancing and partying, but were increasingly feeling like the oldest people in the room – and we didn't have the energy to keep going till the early hours. Clearly we weren't alone, because it has continued to grow. Years later we're still going strong and I'm still getting on the decks and playing vinyl. It's a fun, joyous night, bringing people together. We run it as a nonprofit and donate all profits to Sheffield independent charities. Doing it for the love of it definitely has an impact on the vibe and how it’s received.

Writer

I've been married, divorced and remarried. I'm mum to two grown women, and step-mum to two burgeoning men. I have lived experience of breast cancer. I love a festival, and "busy" should be my second name. I've often wondered: Am I doing this right? Is there a different way? Why am I so tired? These questions took me down some interesting rabbit holes and came up during many hours of therapy. Very soon the answers to these questions will form my first book.
What eventually became clear to me was: I was always trying to be good. I had completely embodied what I call "The Good Girl archetype". But it certainly wasn't my fault. The Good Girl is who we are conditioned to be. But there is someone in all of us who doesn't feel she needs to live by the rules, or the expectations of our society, she knows what she wants and how to get it,: the Wild Woman!  Its taken me years, but I've found my Wild Woman. And my forthcoming book will show you how to find yours.
