YOGA TRAINING
I completed my yoga training in 2013 and have continued to deepen my knowledge and practice ever since. I regularly attend yoga training days and weekends to enhance my skills as a teacher and to inform my own personal practice.

OTHER PROFESSIONAL TRAINING
In 1989 I qualified as a Registered Nurse and have worked both in hospital and the community. The latter part of my career I worked as an Advanced Practitioner in the community caring for patients with long-term health conditions.
I have also worked in the IAPT service as a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner, running clinics and groups for people with anxiety and depression.
Much of my training as a nurse and my Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) training are relevant to being a yoga teacher. The following courses have enhanced my understanding of the body and mind:
2008. Non-medical Prescribing. This qualification enabled me to prescribe any medication from the BNF within the scope of my nursing practice. I have a good understanding of pharmacology and the use of Western medicine.
2014. Postgraduate Certificate in Low-Intensity CBT. This one-year course at the University Of Sheffield taught me how to manage depression and anxiety using CBT.
2016. MBCT (Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy) course. This eight-week programme taught me the principles of mindfulness.
2016. ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy). This is a third-wave CBT modality.
2017. Advanced Assessment Skills. This course was an in-depth look at the anatomy and physiology of the human body and taught me how to clinically assess each system of the body.
2022. Mental Health Awareness at work, including Zero Suicide Alliance training. This helped me to support the mental health of staff at work.
